It's interesting because I used to yell - quote a bit in fact - but after I started teaching, I quickly realized how ineffective it was. Like you, I also get emotional, and I have fiery temper, but since I stopped yelling, I have realized how useless, hurtful and polluting it truly is.

I was thinking about your comment on screaming last night, long after I read your post. I don't understand the impetus to scream/yell either. Nor have I ever been able to explain to others (who do yell) why I don't. It's not as though I don't get emotional, I just lack the inclination to raise my voice.

holy cow Alexis! what a crazy mini-adventure that was! I'm sort of not surprised though... But don't feel too bad - we got charged WAY too much in amsterdam from the train station to our hotel - i think taxi scams are pretty universal. hope the rest of your trip is better!

Dealing, trading was the reason the city was created and it's been the dominant factor since the beginning. The long hours, productive hours too by and large, have been a way of life since the beginning. Everyone who comes here, illegals
